• The end is near

We are winding down the school year.  Finishing up Space and then we will be heavy into reviewing for the LEOCE at the end of May.  I have posted the study guides and the reviews onto my website.  All students will recieve a copy of the review I will also be handing out all of their work for the year so they can review.  Vocabulary practice on www.quizlet.com or quizizz will be available.   The end of course exam counts for 20% of their total grade.  So I want them to do well on it.

I have enjoyed this year very much.  You have wonderful children and I look forward to seeing how much they blossom over the next few years.

Well we have had some set backs with hurricanes etc.  We are busy trying to wrap up the work needed to cover for the next QSMA.  The Science Fair has been postponed until January 17th, 2018.  It is hard to believe that the school year is almost halfway done.

  • October

Posted by Phyllis Brunson on 10/7/2017

October brings hopefully cooler weather and less turmoil.  We have been working on Earth's Atmosphere and we will be starting Weather soon. With the Weather section we will be doing a week long STEAM project where the students will design and build their hurricane proof homes.  We will be testing them to see how they stand up to winds.  They will be given a budget and will be working with classmates to do this work.

I don't want to finish this without mentioning how much DeNarie will be missed in my 6th period class.  I know all of the 6th graders that knew him will miss him.  He had a special smile and we have been very sad to have him gone.  I pray daily for his mother and family as I can't begin to imagine their pain.  I appreciate all the hugs from students as we have all been in this together.

  • End of Week Two

Well we have been really busy in Science learning about the Nature of Science and getting to know each other and all these new routines.  We built some awesome towers and I have posted pictures in my website gallery.

At the end of this week we took that Benchmark Science exam just to see what everyone knew about Science.  This was also a time because we had some extra time, we were able to catch up on assignments that weren't done or finished.  My gradebook is up to date.  Please check it regularly, I try very hard to keep it up to date.

Looking forward to a good year I am enjoying my students!

  • Welcome to the new school year

Welcome Students and Parents,  As we start a brand new school year I wanted to first welcome you to your Science class.  We will be doing lots of STEAM projects.  We will be focusing on improving vocabulary and reading skills as well.

I would ask that while you are out shopping for back to school that you also buy a composition notebook.  This will be used through out the year as your Interactive Notebook.  This is where you will work on vocabulary and do writing.  I don't care how fancy you want to buy it.  Colors are fine.  I will post an image of what I am looking for below.

This is where I will try to post things that are happening in the classroom so visit my webpage if you want information.

You should also email me whenever you have a question.  I usually answer right away.

I am looking forward to a great year and can't wait to meet you at the Meet the teacher day.
