    First Drama Club meeting will be 8/15/17. Club dues- $15 ($5 for health [school required], $5 club membership fee, and $5 if you want this year's t-shirt). Due 8/22- must have paid in order to vote! 

    Meetings occur on Tuesdays and are held from 3:50pm-5pm. 

     

    Bring fundriser ideas to our first meeting! Ideally, we would like to plan 1-2 fundraiser ASAP for the first weekend in September (bake sale/selling something at school? Both at the same time?)

     

    Applications for E-board are due 8/22/17! All positions open: President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer. Also seeking "Tech Director." Send resume/cover letter to Currier at grace.currier@marion.k12.fl.us. Voting on 8/22/17. Voting by blind vote/blind application reads as necessary (unless only 1 person applies for the position)

     

    This year's district one act will be: Governing Alice. Dates TBA- as soon as I know, you'll know. 

    Please take the time to read the excerpt provided at the link if you're planning on working on the show. You do need to sign up to read, but it's free.This is an adaptation of Antigone (don't worry- no Shakespeare!)

     

    We need the following items for the show! Please look around at home/beg/borrow/barter for the following:

     

    • Wood- can be lauan/inexpensive
    • Chalkboard paint
    • Large black leather jacket
    • Long rectangular posterboard
    • Brick red, white, grey paint for wood
    • Red spray paint
    • Regular and stippling paint brushes
    • Lightweight wooden podium (roughly 4.5' tall, 1-2' wide
    • Fake flowers (carnations or roses, red/white/pink)
    • Caution tape
    • Comforter/blanket appropriate for teenage male (dark colors preferable)

    WE NEED TECH CREW! CONTACT ME OR BP IF YOU WANT TO DO STAGEHAND, BOARD, OR ASM! MUST BE GOING TO DISTRICTS!

    We are casting UP TO 10 actors (cast size is 8-10). Roles include:

    • Alice
    • Izzy
    • Ethan
    • Geek Chorus, with speaking roles (Principal, English Teacher, Convenience Store Owner, Geek Leader)

     

    All LWHS students are welcome to audition. Rehearsals will be Tuesday/Thursday from 3:50-5:15pm starting 9/5/17. After October 24, we will have T/W/Th rehearsals, and rehearsals will be M-F beginning 11/13. Expect a Saturday rehearsal in early December, and an evening performance prior to Districts.

    Please see Currier with Individual Event ideas. We are interested in taking 5 solo musical theatre, 2-5 monologues, pantomimes, small group musical, and Currier will direct a small group musical theatre (song TBA). IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT TAKING A TECH PROJECT GET WITH CURRIER ASAP.

     

    Districts costs roughly $60. Fundraisng begins in early September; most students find that they make 90% of their registration if they attend all fundraising activities. Please have all $$ in by 10/1/17.

    Consider saving for States NOW if you have any interest in going- cost is roughly $400!!!!! States is in January.

    I WANT TO DO A MUSICAL THIS SPRING. PLAN ON BRAINSTORMING FOR FUNDRAISING ASAP- WE NEED APPROX. $3000 MINIMUM FOR LICENSING AND TECH!
