    Who? 

    High school students based on their proficiency level, all levels are welcome to attend.

     

    What?  

    A competition for high school Spanish students to give them an opportunity to compete among themselves in the academic events, cultural events, .

    Academic events: declamation, impromptu speech, dramatic presentations and senior essay

    Everyone - Impromptu Speeches: Each student will give a two-minute, non-memorized discourse on a given topic. ALL registered team members must compete in this area.

    Up to 6 participants - Declamations: Students may also compete in an oral presentation of poetry which may not exceed three minutes. Hand motions, movements, voice intonations and costumes to accompany the mood of the recitation are encouraged. Each school may have UP TO SIX participants.

    Whole Team - Dramatic Presentation:  Each school may enter one skit or short play. In this competition the school will receive triple point value.

    Up to 3 SENIOR participants - Senior Essay: Students may also compete in an oral presentation of poetry which may not exceed three minutes. Hand motions, movements, voice intonations and costumes to accompany the mood of the recitation are encouraged. Each school may have UP TO SIX participants. 

    Cultural events: regional dress, entertainment, scrapbook and poster.

    Up to 3 participants - Regional Dress: The regional dress contest will be held at the banquet for an award. Dress must be representative of a Spanish-speaking country. 

    Up to 3 participantsEntertainment: Each school may compete in the entertainment auditions: song, dance or music instrument. Auditions will be held on Friday around noon. Entertainment must be representative of a Spanish-speaking country. Finalists will perform at the banquet for an award.

    Everyone - Scrapbook: Each school may enter one scrapbook depicting the conference theme while featuring the year's activities of the Spanish students in their school.  

    Everyone - Poster Competition: Each school may enter one original poster depicting the conference theme. Posters must be made of poster board and must be turned in at the registration area upon arrival on Thursday to be judged. They will be on display throughout the conference.

    When? 

    March 14th-16th, 2019       Thursday noon – Saturday morning

    This is during Spring Break so you will not miss any classes to attend competition.
