Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Cyndi Fields
Ever since I was in Kindergarten I have wanted to be a teacher. I would line my stuffed animals up and teach them what I had learned in school that day, using my walls as chalk boards. You can imagine how much my parents loved that! I grew up in the Gainesville area and graduated from Gainesville High School where I dual-enrolled at Santa Fe College. I earned my Associate of Arts degree from SFC and went on to earn my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Saint Leo University.
I knew about half way through my degree that I really wanted to teach middle school. I didn't want to change majors, so I did my final internship in 6th grade science. I proceeded to get a job in Inidan River County teaching middle school language arts for my first 3 years of teaching. I later shifted my focus to math and taught mostly math for the next 9 years. I moved back to Gainesville in 2012 and continued to teach middle school math in Gilchrist County.
In 2014, I decided to give Elementary a try and accepted a position teaching 5th grade in Alachua County. I enjoyed my time in Elementary, but knew my heart was in teaching middle school. When the job opened up at Ft. McCoy I decided to apply and take my chance to go back to middle school. I am so happy to be back in my niche and look forward to a great year.
