    Homework for the week of 5/11 - 5/15

    1. Look back to the Covid attachment sent earlier.  Complete the following pages:  My community, Not stuck at home, Handprints, and Special occasions.

    2. When in the e-textbook, go to "student resources" and then to "activity book".  Complete pg. 13 and pg. 24 (A and B ONLY).  You can just write the answer down in the order they are in the book.

    3. Continue reading some book you enjoy and write a quick summary of what you've read this week.

    8th Grade:

    1. Look back to the Covid attachment sent earlier.  Complete the following pages: My community, Not stuck at home, Handprints, and Special occasions.

    2. When in the e-textbook, read pgs. 162-164.  Answer the P.A.T.P.O. questions and complete "Analyze the Text" on pg. 165.

    3. Continue reading some book you enjoy and write a quick summary of what you've read this week.

  • Homework for the week of 5/4 - 5/8:

    6th Grade:  Read e-textbook pgs. 34 - 39.  Complete "Setting a Purpose" on pg. 34 and the 3 questions in "Collaborative Discussion" on page 40.  

    8th Grade: Listen to the podcst of Hans Christian Anderson on page 156.  Then answer the 3 questions on pg. 157 in the "Collaborative Discussion" section.  

    Both 6th and 8th grade:  Continue reading your own book and write a paragraph about what you read.

  • Homework for the week of 4/30 - 5/4

    6th Grade:

    1. Read "The Epic of Gilgamesh" pgs. 28 - 32.

    2. On pg. 33, answer the following questions:

        A. Do Gilgamesh and Enkidu share many similarities?

        B. Do they have differing qualities?  Cite specific details from                 the text (use quotes).

    3. Complete the Performance Task with 3 examples for each scenario/situation.

    8th Grade:

    1. Read "Before They Were Presidents" on pgs. 150 - 153.

    2. On pg. 154, read Reading Toolbox to the end of the page.

    3. Answer the 2 questions in Analyzing the Text but remember that there are 3 questions within those.  You should have a total of 6 answers.

    4. Complete Practice and Apply.

    Both 6th and 8th Grade:

    1. Continue to read every day and write one paragraph about what you read this week.

  • Homework for the week of 4/20 - 4/24:

    6th grade

    1. Read pg. 22 - 25 in e-text and check out the questions in the box at the top of pg. 22

    2. On pg. 26, give at least 3 reasons for each (Dr. Horowitz and Dr. Diehl) as to what makes them a "trusted" source.

    3. On pg. 27, do the Performance Task and for the last 2 bullets, use the Internet to find at least one reliable source to support what each doctor said in the article.

    8th grade:

    1. Re-read pg. 144 - 148 then, on pg. 149, complete the Collaborative Discussion questions and also the Analyzing Character.

    Both 6th and 8th grade:

    1.  Write paragraph on what you read this week.  Remember to really explain well.  Think of questions I might ask about what you read and give that information as well.

    2. Complete the Covid assignments All About Me and How I'm Feeling.

    * As usual, this is due by Friday 4/24 and you can take a picture of the completed assignment and e-mail it to me.

  • Homework for the week of 4/13/20- 4/17/20:

    6th grade - Listen to the Podcast on page 20 about the Korean War and use page 21 to review what happened during the Podcast.  After that, on pg. 21, complete the Collaborative Discussion section.  Examples of different types of fear: danger to self, others, family, fear of bodily injury, fear of lack of freedom, etc.  Explain well. 

    8th grade - Read pg. 144 - 148 in e-text then go back and answer the Setting a Purpose questions in complete sentences.

    Both 6th and 8th grade - Use the Covid link at the top of this page and complete the first page.  We are living history right now and this will be interesting to save for posterity (look it up if you don't know what it means).  Take a picture of the completed activity and e-mail that back to me, along with your paragraph on what you read this week.  All material is due Friday, April 17th.

    HOMEWORK FOR WEEK 4/6/20-4/10/20

    6th grade:  Read pgs. 16-19 and pg. 19 in e-textbook.  Do Collaborative Discussion, Analyzing Text, and Practice and Apply.  This is due Friday and can be e-mailed to me.  Also on Friday, write a paragraph about what you've read in your book this week.

    8th grade:  Read pgs. 137  and 140-141 in e-textbook.  Complete and e-mail the following:

    Setting a Purpose with as many examples as possible

    Collaborative Discussion

    Also, write a paragraph about what you've read in your own book this week.  These assignment will be due this Friday, 4/10/20.

  • Continue to read at least 20 minutes per night.  Remember, read something you're interested in; IF you go to your local library, ask a librarian to help you find something you'd like to read.

    In lieu of (in place of) a book report, I will add an assignment soon to this page.  I will give you all the needed information soon about that.
