Meet Mrs. Carter
Welcome to our class! Mrs. Townsend and I will team teach this year for the third year. She will teach ELA (language arts and reading) and Social Studies, while I will teach math and science. I am blessed to work with such a wonderful person and teacher. We are both certified gifted teachers, so all students' goals will be met within our classrooms using enrichment and differentiation. We are looking forward to an exciting year together!
Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! Teaching Gifted Education and Content is quite possibly my vision of teaching perfection! I am excited to work with you and your child! It is going to be a year full of fun, wrapped up in learning opportunities, and experiences to stretch and grow your child’s abilities. I can not wait to see what the year has in store for us! I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.
I am married to Michael. He owns Master Garage Builders here in town going on year 27. Our son(Jay) is in 6th grade at Osceola Middle School. My oldest boy(Jacob) is currently serving in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller stationed. My daughter(Jayda) is also in the United States Air Force in Operations Intelligence. We just celebrated our 3rd year anniversary of moving to Ocala at the end of July. We have settled into our new home downtown. I absolutely love Ocala and all it has to offer.
I knew when I was in second grade I wanted to be a teacher. It is a true gift that I am grateful for each day. I have been teaching in Seminole County since 1993. I am in year 4 in Marion County. I have taught K, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, and Gifted Content Ed. I grew up in PA, played volleyball in college on scholarship, and settled in to the perfect weather in Florida. I love adventures and bringing that same sense of wonder into the classroom. I enjoy creating art, reading, fishing, boating, and spending time watching my son play sports.
It is my mission to build a love for learning in my students. I teach with a passion for my subject so that my students develop a desire to become life-long learners. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I respond quickly via email. If for some reason you do not hear from me in a timely manner. I spend every free moment I have during the day engaged with the students, planning activities, and even meetings can sometimes keep me from the computer. The one thing you can be certain of is that an open line of communication is of the utmost importance to me. I look forward to a great year!
