Topic: Shapes

MAFS.1.G.1.3 – Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller shares. 

Goal # 1: I can partition (divide) a circle and rectangle into two and four equal parts. 

 Goal # 2: I can describe the equal parts of a circle and rectangle with words (halves, fourths, and quarters).  

Goal # 3: I can describe the whole by the number of equal parts (e.g., two halves make a whole).  

Goal # 4: I can explain the more equal parts in circle or rectangle, the smaller the parts.
