Greetings and salutations!
Welcome to the website of Mr. DeBary! I teach students with Autism in our ESE department.
This year i will be teaching World History, English, and Preparation for Adult Living. This year is going to be very interesting with all the new procedures and protocols to keep track of, but we will get through it! Keep an eye on this page for announcements and updates, i will do my best to keep it updated throughout the year. You will find announcement directly below this greeting.
Be sure to explore the different tabs on the left side:
"Meet the Teacher" will tell you a little bit about myself and my family; "Assignments" is where i will post links or access codes to things like Brainpop, Newsela, Microsoft Teams instuctions, etc.; "Calendar" will show important school-wide dates and events; "Gallery" has pictures of my classroom set up for this year, and a couple more of my family. Family is VERY important to me, and we ecourage a family-like environment in our classrooms. We encourage the students to look out for each other and be helpful and considerate.
We have 3 rules in my classroom: 1. Be Respectful. 2. Follow Directions. 3. Do Your Best Work.
As per district encouragement/guidelines, we will be utilizing Microsoft Teams for our MCPS Online (distance learning) classes. This program is new to many of us, and we teachers are still learning it ourselves. Because of this, i will be making learning this program the main assignment for our computer stations (at least for the first few weeks). Once i see that our students have a handle on it, i will be giving them small assignments at the computer stations to keep them using it in the chance we have to go to full distance learning again. i will work on getting some guides or links posted for those who need them. Please be patient with us as we all adapt to this new style of doing things. Trust that we are still striving to give each and every student the best education that we can! We can do this!
I can be reached by email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
We're looking forward to a great year!
Attention parents and students:
We will be working on scheduling throughout this week, so please do not panic if you do not see your names in the correct classes. Getting the computer system to handle our hybrid method of classes this year has taken some work, and we are still working out the bugs and kinks. Our counseling staff are working diligently as best they can to get everything as it should be. you should begin seeing at least an incomplete schedule this week so that you can at least see who your teachers will be, if not the correct classes. If you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to email us. My email address is posted above in my greeting paragraph, my "Meet the Teacher" page, and you can find a link by looking in the white toolbar with green text just above my greeting and hovering your mouse over "Faculty and Staff". A dropdown menu will appear with links to teacher webpages and email addresses. Please be patient with us, we're doing the best we can to have everything ready to blast off monday, August 24th! The countdown is running!
