Welcome to Mr. Gibb's Class!

  • Dear Students,

I miss you! When I walked onto campus last week and I stared into a room of empty desks, it just wasn't right. I miss your stories, your laughs, and the daily face-to-face interaction. Nothing -- not even remote/virtual instruction -- can replace the classroom setting. Personally, I enjoy being around people so this quarantine has been especially challenging. I am sure most of you agree. I became a teacher because I believe in the power of education -- how it can transform lives. As we navigate through this new normal together, it is my hope that you not only complete your work, but also show a desire to learn new things. Albert Einstein once said, "Wisdom is not a product of schooling, but of the life-long attempt to aquire it." So although we are not in school right now, learning should never cease. I never anticipated that I would live through a pandemic, but here we are. It is imperative to make the best out of it (e.g., spend time with your family, pick up a new hobby). Perhaps many of you are being consumers of the news and are learning a lot about infectious diseases. I know I am. I realize that there are many uncertainties, but one thing is certain. We WILL get through this together. I promise.

On the left, you should see a tab titled "COVID-19 Instruction." All of the Google Classroom codes can be found there. I am facilitating all instruction through Google Classroom. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me via email or Remind. I got your back!

    Best,

    Mr. Gibb

  • Welcome to my webpage!

On the left side of your screen, you will find links to my Pre-IB English 1, Journalism, and Leadership classes. I have included PowerPoints, links to handouts I've passed out in class, and additional resources that may be useful.

I am excited to have you in my class this year and I look forward to seeing your academic growth. My hope is that you come to class each day with a positive attitude, prepared, and ready to learn.

    Go Hurricanes!
