Welcome To Mrs. Bishop's Classroom
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year at Maplewood Elementary School! I am excited to be your child’s teacher. I am looking forward to a fun, challenging, and successful school year with you and your child. We have a wonderful new year filled with academic growth and continuous learning to look forward to. We will be working on achieving individual student goals as well as challenge them at their instructional level to exceed standard expectations. In order to promote full student development, I would like to present the classroom guidelines and policies.
Teacher Assistant: Ms. Carrie will be working with our class this year as my teacher’s assistant. We will be working side by side to help your child reach his/her goals.
Arrival and Dismissal: Student may begin arriving on campus at 7:20am. Teachers and staff will be waiting to greet your child in the back car/bus line. If students arrive after 7:45am they must report to the front office to sign-in. Students will be dismissed at 2:05pm
Communication: I believe that communication is key when it comes to all children’s education. It is important to me that there is a positive and cooperative working relationship between home and school. You can call the school at 352-671-6820, or email me at Tiffany.Bishop@marion.k12.fl.us. My email is the best way of communication as I check it throughout the day and will respond as soon as I can.
Absences and Attendance: Should your child need to be absent, please call the front office at 352-671-6820 to notify the school of your child absence. For excused absences, a written note with a valid excuse must be written and turned into the school office (We will turn in excuse note if sent to school with child).
Lunch: Our class is scheduled to have lunch 10:20-10:50. You have the option of a free school lunch or you many send in lunch for your child from home. I will send home a lunch menu at the beginning of each month and it will also be located on the schools website.
Snack: Due to the fact that we have such an early lunch time we will be having snack in the afternoon daily. A snack schedule will be attached at the bottom of the page. Please bring in store bought, prepackaged snacks (nothing homemade) for the week on Monday for 9 students. NO Drinks Needed.
Snack Ideas- Box of Animal Crackers, Gold Fish, Vanilla Wafers, Pretzels, Gram Crackers
Student Folders: Each student will be given a student folder which will contain their monthly behavior sheet with notes that will be sent home each day. The folder will also contain documents, work, projects, and event announcements throughout the year. So please be sure to look in your child’s folder, as well as sign and return the following school day.
Class Rules: A short list of broad rules will be created with the students to ensure positive behavior and expectations.

The students will start everyday on Ready to Learn (Green) and if making good choices they will be asked to move their clip up and if making the wrong choices they will be asked to move their clip down.
