Mrs. Sharon Hooks

I started teaching Prek ESE at Evergreen Elementary in 2016, teaching Prek ESE for 2 years, then for the 2018-2019 school year, I moved into second grade for 2 years.  I will be starting my fifth year (2020-2021 school year) at Belleview-Santos in second grade.  I have a great passion for teaching students, and I believe in taking students from where they are, and pushing them to their greatest potential.

A little about me, I was born in Eustis, Florida and grew up in Umatilla, Florida. I am a graduate of Umatilla High School, Home of the Bulldogs.  After graduating, I attended Lake-Sumter State College, and received my Associate of Arts Degree in General Studies.  I went on to further my education at Saint Leo University, where I received my Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Human Services.  I wasn't satisfied with just a Bachelor's degree.  As I thought about my dream and calling, which was teaching, I decided to move in to the field of education.  I earned my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, at Liberty University.

Throughout my years of being a student in school, I had some special teachers who were there for me. They believed in me and pushed me to my greatest potential.  This is why I have such a passion to teach.  I really strive to be like those teachers that I had, who made a difference in my life.  I hope that I am a teacher that my students will always remember.   My goal is to be the teacher that I had growing up, who made a difference in my life,  for my students.

It is my goal and my mission to encourage students to learn, understanding that they have the freedom to observe and explore the world around them, so that they can make those "real-life" connections. I am blessed to be able to do what I love each and every day, and make an impact in the lives of the students at Belleview-Santos Elementary School, where GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING!
