    ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How does keyboarding accurately impact your ability to utilize current technology in the work place?

    Please Note: Schedule change requests have begun. If you think you took this class in 8th grade and it was the year long DIT class it should have counted for your 9th grade credit. If so, you need to request a schedule change. Consider taking E-Commerce with me which is the next level. You will learn Web Design.

    BELLWORK:

    Answer the questions on two seperate torn little pieces of paper, about the size of a yellow sticky note. I have a tape dispenser on the table that you can use. Tape it to the brown cabinet on the right side of the room. 

    1. Which is worse, failing or never trying? (Write failing or never trying on your paper and why you think this)

    2. Can you buy your way to happiness? (Answer yes or no and why you think this) 

    TODAY:

    We will work in Moodle eMarion online class. We will start learning how to properly keyboard without looking at the keys.

      1. Go to your desktop portal and click on Moodle eMarion 

      2. Watch the Keyboarding Video - if you need earphones please let me know prior to watching the video.

      3. When you have completed watching the video take the Proper Keyboarding Quiz.

      4. Sign up for typing.com go to https://www.typing.com/student/join#5B75D503D6989

      5. If you already have an account please use the Self-Join Code 5B75D503D6989

      6. If you don't have an account sign up for one and use the same code.

      7. Please start with the beginner lessons:

    1. Use one computer wipe to clean your key board, mouse (bottom too), and monitor.

    2. See if you can log in.

    3. Let me know if you need your password and login for the computer.

    Login to one note (I will show you how to do this and to set it up).

    Essential Question: What is my schedule and where are my classes?

    If you did not find your name on one of the locator sheets around the school and just came to this class and I don't have a white schedule for you please report to the auditorium. 

    I have a seating chart so if I missed you when you came in, please see me so I can direct you to your correct seat. This helps me get to know your names. 

    Please Note: Schedule change requests will not begin until Monday, August 20th. So no, you may not go and see a counselor. They will be in the auditorium taking care of kids who do not have any classes.

    Today:

    We will learn all about Forest High School's rules and procedures to "Make it Count". Follow the Wildcat Way: Be on Time, Be Respectful, Be Prepared. We will learn about "The Rock" so all of these rules and procedures, make all things available to you, so you may have the best year ever.

    1. I will distribute individual student schedules. Please check your schedules to make sure it is complete and that you do not have missing classes or a blank period.

    2. If you have a blank period you will report to the auditorium during that time.

    3. Period 18 is zero period. 

    4. Period 19 is 7th period.

    5. I will distribute maps.

    6. If I do not have a schedule for you, I will ask you to report to the auditorium.

    Copy this KWL Chart onto a piece of paper. If you need paper I have some you can use. Talk about this school year. I have crayons and colored pencils if you want to make yours colorful.

    procedures:

    Restroom Procedures:

    • Only 1 person at a time may use the restroom.

    • You may leave your seat to go sign out but you must let me know you are leaving. Make sure I acknowledge your request.

    • Sign out on the paper located on the filing cabinet at the front of the room near the white board.

    • Note the time you are leaving and take the flip flop with you as your pass. (You must have the pass with you or it is not considered approved to leave)

    • Sign in when you return and note the time you returned.

    • If you are gone more than 20 minutes I consider this skipping, and you will be given a referral.

    • Restroom time is for the restroom only. Both the girls and the boys bathroom is just down the hall so you have no reason to be wandering the halls. 

    • Be mindful that others need to use the restroom pass so take no more than 10 minutes.

    Tardies:

    • If you are late to school you must go to attendance and login to the KIOSK. This will register that you are tardy. 

    • Your teacher may also put a tardy into the computer, so make sure you are on time.

    • If you have three tardies in the nine weeks you will be given a warning that the fourth tardy will result in a referral. You will receive ISS.

    • Let's be on time.

    Dismissal procedures:

    • I will let you know when it is time to stop working and to log off your computer. DO NOT Shut Down because students in the next classes will be using the computers.

    • DO NOT gather at the door. It is important to be clear of the door for safety reasons. When the bell rings you may quietly get up from your seat, push in your chair, then exit the classroom.

    ABout this class:

    • Let's go over the syllabus

    • My syllabus is online however, if you wish to have a paper copy I can print one out for you.

    • This is a technology class and 90% of what we do is on the computer. If you have problems and do not have a lot of experience on the computer, please let me know right away because I don't want you to fall behind.

    • This is a fast-paced course so if you find yourself falling behind please let me know so I can help you get caught up.

    How are you getting Home?

    • If you take the bus remember you must have your bus route slip that the bus driver or school personnel gave you. 

    • If you have a bus change bank or were a car rider this morning then you must have a bus slip to load the bus in the afternoon.

    • You have 5 minutes to get to your bus. Administrators will be available to assist you if you don't know where to go.
