• Chapter 4 – Probability

When students have completed this lesson they should be able to:

    • Know what a ‘sample space’ is
    • Know the difference between an ‘outcome’ and an ‘event’ and be able to calculate the probability of an event from the probabilities of the outcomes in the sample space
    • Use the addition law for mutually exclusive events
    • Know the multiplication law of conditional probability, and be able to use the tree diagrams
    • Know the multiplication law for independent events

Chapter 5 – Permutations and Combinations

When students have completed this lesson they should be able to:

    • Know what a permutation is, and be able to calculate with permutations
    • Know what a combination is, and be able to calculate with combinations
    • Apply permutations and combinations to probability
