Method #1
COLLEGE COURSEWORK
Category II personnel may fulfill his/her ESOL training requirement by taking one (1) College Course approved by the Florida Department of Education which include:
- Cross-cultural Communication and Understanding
- Methods of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- ESOL Curriculum and Materials Development
- Testing and Evaluation of ESOL
- Applied Linguistics
Method #2
ONLINE INSERVICE COURSEWORK
Category II personnel may fulfill his/her ESOL training requirements by taking one (1) ESOL Online Moodle Course offered by the Marion County Public Schools which include:
- ESOL Essentials for Content Teachers
- ESOL Cross-Cultural Communication and Understanding
- ESOL Methods of Teaching
- ESOL Curriculum and Materials Development
- ESOL Testing and Evaluation
- ESOL Applied Linguistics
Method #3
PRE-SERVICE REQUIREMENT COMPLETION
Category II personnel may fulfill his/her ESOL training requirements by having completed a Florida Department of Education-approved education program in ESOL at the college or university level. This would make the teacher ENDORSED in ESOL and this endorsement does not have to be renewed each validity period, as this endorsement is added to an existing certification area.
