Mr. Phillip Small
Coach Small was named Belleview High School's Athletic Director in April of 2019. Prior to arriving at BHS, Coach Small started his career at Leesburg High School where he coached defensive backs on the Varsity Football team, served as the Head Freshmen and JV coach for Boys Basketball, and assisted the Varsity staffs for both Boys and Girls Basketball. During his tenure, Leesburg Football won 2 District Championships, Boys Basketball made the playoffs twice, and Girls Basketball won three District Championships and earned two trips to Lakeland for the State Final Four.
Coach Small left Leesburg in 2009 to become the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Vanguard High School in Ocala. Coach Small spent nine years at Vanguard leading the Boys Basketball program all nine years and served as Head Girls Golf coach for five. While at Vanguard, he lead the Girls Golf team to the first State Tournament appearance in school history, and took the Boys Basketball team to the State Final Four in Lakeland for the first time in 35 years.
A native of Chattanooga, TN, Coach Small graduated from the University of Kansas where he earned a degree in Marketing with a minor in Sports Management. After graduating, Coach Small spent a year working for the Tostitos Fiest Bowl in Phoenix, AZ where he served in game operations, event coordination, and marketing services.
