Students in 4th and 5th grade are developing their music reading skills by learning to play the recorder! They are learning the proper playing technique, how to hold the instrument, correct posture, and articulation. This helps prepare them for more music classes in middle school, develops their music reading, sythesizes all of the elements of music, and is a fun way to learn how to play songs.
Students are earning karate belts for their recorders through Recorder Karate. As students pass off songs and play them correctly, they collect colored rubber bands to put on their recorder and sign their names on the corresposding posters.
