Vacation hours are earned and accumulated by twelve-month employees only. Hours are earned based on the following years of Marion County School Board experience (A break in service from the District for more than 30 days places you back to year 0).
0 to 5 years :: 6 hours biweekly
5 to 10 years :: 7 hours biweekly
More than 10 years :: 8 hours biweekly
The District closes during the winter break each year and twelve-month employees are required to use their vacation hours to keep them in a paid status.
A maximum of 480 hours can be carried over from one fiscal year to the next. Any hours exceeding this maximum will be deducted from the employee's record.
A maximum of 60 days can be paid for terminal pay benefits.
