Sick Leave Benefits

  • Instructional employees earn one day of sick leave per month of employment. Employees are credited with four (4) days of sick leave on their first day of employment each school year. Thereafter, they earn one day of sick leave at the end of each month until they have earned the maximum number of hours. (Example: A ten-month teacher earns 77.5 hours of sick leave per school year).

All other employees earn one (1) day of sick leave per month of employment. Employees are credited with four (4) days of sick leave at the end of their first month of employment each school year. Thereafter, they earn one day of sick leave at the end of the month until they have earned the maximum number of hours. (Example: A nine month teacher assistant who works six hours per day would have a maximum of 54 hours).

Each school year a maximum of six (6) days earned may be used for personal reasons.
