    USER SUPPORT SPECIALIST PROGRAM (TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES)

    This program is ideal for students interested in computer industry help desk careers and is designed to prepare students for employment as an Information Technology Assistant, Help Desk Support Assistant, Help Desk Specialist (Help Desk Technician), and Help Desk Analyst. This program offers a broad foundation of knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment in PC support services positions. Students will also be exposed to gaming simulation and design skills throughout this program. Students pursue MTA®, Comptia A+, Comptia Network +, Comptia Security + certifications, along with Microsoft MOS® and MOM® industry certifications. The content includes software applications and operating systems including the use of advanced software/system features and programs; electronic communication via the Internet; hardware and software choices and installation; integration techniques to enhance projects; and preventative hardware maintenance. This program focuses on broad, transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the following elements of the Technical support services industry: planning; management; finance; technical and production skills; underlying principles of technology; labor issues; community issues; and health, safety, and environmental issues.

     


     

     

    Career Pathway students (completing a CTE Program of Study with 3 or more CTE courses in a program) may receive articulated college credits toward an Associate in Science (A.S.) degree at CFCC when the courses are successfully completed with a minimum grade of a B and pass an assessment, industry certification for credit. Students must complete 3 credits within the program with a 3.0 or higher.

     

    Technical Support Services: 12 credit hours

     

    Administrative Assistant: 9 credit hours

     

    Student may earn additional college credit for passing industry certifications offered at MTI:

    • CompTIA A+ 6 credit hours for CET 1178C A+Hardware, CET1170 A+Software
    • CompTIA Network+ 3 Credit hours for CTS 2134 Network Fundamentals
    • CompTIA Security+ 3 Credit hours for CTS 2120 Security Fundamentals
    • Microsoft Office Specialist 3 credit hours (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
    • Microsoft WORD Expert 3 credit hours for OST 2717 Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft EXCEL Expert 3 credit hours for OST 2103 Spreadsheet Applications
