My name is Joy Baxley and I am thrilled to be the Principal At Harbour View!  I received my BS and MS degrees from Ouachita Baptist University in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and Reading, respectively.  My Specialist degree in Educational Leadership is from Nova Southeastern University.  I began my career teaching 3 years at the American International School of Johannesburg in South Africa.  I taught 4 years of 6^th grade Science in Kentucky followed by 10 years of Kindergarten in Orange and Brevard County.  I moved to Marion County 20 years ago and have been an ESE Parent Liaison for the district, the Dean at Eighth Street for 2 years, an Assistant Principal at Osceola for 4 years, Assistant Principal at Saddlewood for almost 6 years, Assistant Principal at Emerald Shores for a year and a half prior to being named Principal at Wyomina Park five years ago. I have been married to my husband for 25 years and we have 2 grown children who are both here in Ocala.  I love to support teachers and educate students, read, sing, knit, quilt, and spend time with my family and longtime Bible Study lady friends.  I am excited about my new home and family at Harbour View.

Hello! My name is Jennifer Pollard and I am the Assistant Principal at Harbour View Elementary. I graduated from Flagler College in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I began working in Marion County Public Schools in 2004 as a 4^th grade teacher.  Through the years, I have been a Math and Science Coach, Reading Coach for summer school and a dean before becoming an assistant principal.  I earned my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education. When I am not working, I spend as much time as possible at the beach and just hanging out with my family.

Hello, my name is Jannissa Nettles-Brown and I am the Student Services Manager (Dean) at Harbour View Elementary. I earned my  Bachelor's Degree from the University of West Florida in 2000. I began my career in education in 2008 as a 4th grade teacher.  In 2010, I received my  Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of West Florida.  When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.  I look forward to a wonderful year and am excited to support the discipline needs of all students and teachers!  Go Dolphins!

Hello! My name is Vera Light and I am excited to be entering another year at Harbour View Elementary as the School Counselor. I earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling through the University of Central Florida Counselor Education program. Through this program, I was able to gain many experiences that have bolstered my counseling skills; in turn, allowing me to better serve the students that I work with. As someone who grew up in Ocala, I look forward to giving back to the community that helped shape me into the person that I am today. I also, of course, look forward to working with you and your child! My goal is for our students to reach optimal development by supporting the fulfillment of their social, emotional, educational, and vocational needs. Please let me know if you have any questions about my role in the school or the services that I offer. Communication and collaboration are of the utmost importance in the success of our students. When I am not working, I can often be found on adventures with my husband. I find education to be an adventure as well, so thank you for joining Harbour View for this journey.

Hello, my name is Sheri Salem and I am the Content Area Specialist for Math and Science at Harbour View Elementary. I have been with Marion County Public Schools for twelve years where I have taught first grade, fifth grade, and been an Academic Coach for Math and Science. I am a Florida native and attended Marion County Public Schools myself from kindergarten through twelfth grade. I graduated college from The University of Florida, Go Gators! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and being outdoors, especially at the beach.

Hello, I am Tammy Swinehart. I am the Content Area Specialist in reading for Harbour View Elementary.  I have enjoyed helping elementary students in Marion County Public Schools grow and learn since 1985. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Stetson University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from St. Leo University.    As the reading coach, it is my responsibility to provide teachers, students, and parents with materials, resources and training that will help our students become better readers and writers.  Reading is the key to success and it is my goal to help all students achieve.
