    Additional Information

LEA’s target the Title I funds they receive to public schools with the highest percentages of children from low-income families. Schools that meet eligibility requirements use Title I funds for school-wide programs designed to enhance their educational programs to improve achievement for all students, particularly the lowest-achieving students.

In Marion County, private schools are provided with the “targeted assistance program” in which the school identifies students who are failing, or most at-risk of failing, to meet the state’s challenging academic achievement standards. Through targeted assistance, schools collaborate with parents, school and district staff, to design an educational program to meet the needs of those students.

Both school-wide and targeted assistance programs must use instructional strategies based on scientifically-based research and implement parental and family engagement activities.

    • Most Title I Schools in Marion County are school-wide programs
    • Elementary schools identified at 40% free/reduced lunch
    • Secondary schools identified first at 58% free/reduced lunch
