Mr. Jeremy Rhoden

I started my career in agriculture by working for the Florida USDA Wildlife Services (WS) and Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services (APHIS) straight out of high school. I had the unique opportunity to be the youngest federal government employee at the time and I got to travel all over the state of Florida working with wildlife. From capturing and vaccinating raccoons for rabies, to rescuing hundreds of sea turtle nests that were continuously being depredated by wild hogs, I had quite the experience. I worked with USDA for about two and half years, most of the time I was stationed in the Florida Keys working with the Giant African Gambian Pouch Rat. The experiences and education that I learned working not only with wildlife, but also the public, have been vital to me ever since!

Throughout my time in the Keys, I continuously entertained myself with the idea of going to school to become an agricultural educator. I had an awesome agricultural teacher whenever I was in high school, and ever since then it had been my dream to become one; that is until I started working with USDA. Though I loved working with wildlife, eventually I finally decided to go back to school for agricultural education. I missed it.

I proceeded to go to school part time at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, Florida for three years, while I worked full time as well. Once I graduated with my AA Degree in 2010, I then proceeded to the University of Florida's Agricultural Education & Communication's Department full time. In May 2013, I graduated with Honors from the University of Florida with a major in agricultural education.

I am now starting my 4th year as an agriscience educator and I have taught Agriscience Foundations 1, Horticultural Sciences 2,3,4,5,6, Agri-Technology 1&2, Technical Agricultural Operations 2&3, and Advanced Concepts in Agriscience - with a primary focus on drones in agriculture. I am specially certified in Florida Nursery Growers and Landscaping Association (FNGLA) and Unmanned Safety Institute for Drones (USI Certification).
