Gregory Smith: 3-D Visual Arts
Email  Mr. Smith is the ceramics instructor at West Port High School and has been a potter for 13 years, traveling the country selling his wares. Raised in the Midwest, Mr. Smith moved to Florida & attended St. Petersburg College. He transferred to the University of North Florida where he was introduced to ceramics while majoring in Business Management and Marketing. While there he was introduced to ceramics. Later while living in Atlanta, he pursued independent studies at the Chastain Arts Center.

Janet Shelley: Acting and Musical Theatre
Email  Mrs. Shelley received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre from New York University's School of the Arts. A 2002 Golden Apple finalist, Mrs. Shelley has taught in Marion County since 1988. Mrs. Shelley has served on the Board of Directors of the Ocala Civic Theatre where she has also been a guest director for their Special Presentations and Theatre for Young Audiences programs. Her acting and directing credits include numerous plays & musicals in educational, community, and Off-Broadway theater.

Nancy Atkinson: Chorus, Orchestra, and Musical Theatre
Email  Ms. Atkinson has been teaching in Marion County for 25 years. She taught strings and chorus at Madison Street Academy of Visual and Performing Arts and during this time was chosen as Marion County’s Teacher of the Year in 1992. Later she taught Strings and Vocal Music at Belleview High School. She is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association, Florida Vocal Association, and Florida Orchestra Association. Mrs. Atkinson is very happy to be teaching at West Port High School.

Justine McDaniel: Dance
Email  Justine McDaniel is excited to begin her career as an educator at West Port High School. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Health Science and a Minor in Dance at the University of South Florida where she was able to choreograph, learn, and explore all possibilities of dance. Ms. McDaniel created several dance repertory pieces for the community & has also assisted in choreographing and restaging several ballet productions. She believes all dancers should have strong foundations.

Jeremy Shepard: Guitar
Email  Mr. Shepard earned his BA in Music at the University of North Florida in 2009 and has spent many years working in music, both performing as well as giving lessons. Jeremy principled on Bass Guitar in college but has been playing guitar, as well as other instruments for over 12 years. He also minored in History while at UNF and spends time incorporating history and music theory into his teaching to help students better understand how music works and why things came to be.

Scotty Vance: Instrumental Music and Visual Ensemble
Email  Mr. Scotty Vance received his degree of Bachelors in Music Education (BME) from Florida State University in 1993 and has taught music for 20 years. He has also taken some coursework towards his Masters degree at the University of Florida. Mr. Vance is a member of the FBA, FEA, FMBC, FMEA, FSMA, MCMA, MCCA, MENC, and the NEA. He has taught at West Port since the school opened its doors in 2000. His students are focused towards music as a possible career choice after high school.

Judy Worley: Photography
Email  Mrs. Worley has over 20 years of educational experiences in the Arts. She received a Masters in Art Education from the University of Illinois and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Murray State University. During her tenure in Ocala she has actively served as a board member for Fine Arts for Ocala and the Marion Cultural Alliance. In addition, Mrs. Worley served on the Directors Advisory Committee at The Appleton Museum of Art. She has presented numerous workshop sessions for the MCPS District.

Dean Marino: Electronic Music, Keyboard and Rock Band
Email  Dean Marino has been teaching in Marion County for the past 15 years & received his Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Composition from California State University, Northridge. He also has certifications in Composing & Arranging, Jazz Piano & Film Scoring from The Grove School of Music. Before becoming an educator, Mr. Marino worked in Los Angeles, CA as a musician/composer-arranger/music editor.He received an Emmy nomination in 1996 for music editing & was 2003 Marion County Teacher of the Year.
