Exceptional Student Education Evaluations
School Social Workers assist in the evaluation of students for certain Exceptional Student Education placements and for re-evaluations of students already participating in some ESE programs. Social/developmental histories with an emphasis on teacher, counselor, student and parent interviews are required for certain ESE programs and are often requested to give insight into a student’s situation.
The social developmental history may incorporate the following areas: student observation, record review, and family, medical and educational histories. Evaluation instruments in addition to what is administered by the school psychologist are also required for many evaluations.
