These programs are designed for students who have either multiple handicaps, which require a more individualized program, or for students whose needs cannot be fully met in a more traditional trainable program. By design the adult/student ratio is kept low to provide more staff attention to the variety of student needs in the classroom. Functional Skills provides training in self-help skills, activities of daily living, home care (bed making, cooking and cleaning), and sheltered employment (sorting, stacking, stapling, collating, etc.). Additional emphasis is upon behavior control, use of leisure time, and other skills needed by particular students.
