Degrees and Certifications:
After teaching middle school for many, many years, yes, I've a few gray hairs, but that's the cost of getting to be around the most precious, sweet, goofy, and challenging members of our population.
My master's is in Teaching and Learning with Technology, Ashford University, which included way more than just using computers.
My undergraduate degree is in Business Administration from the University of Florida. Go Gators!
Did I always want to be a teacher? Yes. It was a teacher who encouraged me to get a business degree instead. That same teacher, 18 years later, became my first principal. I've been in the classroom for 20 plus years. I recommend this job to anyone who thinks kids are funny and cares about their future. It's also a blessing when you have kids of your own that you get time off when they do.
I've taught many subjects including Career Planning, Science, Critical Thinking, and of course my first love, Math. My teachers taught me math with such joy in their hearts and I hope to exude the same joy. I know some kids struggle, but the joy is where struggle meets overcoming. Be patient, use your pencil, write the problem example as many times as it takes to click, and first and foremost, know your times tables.
It's not always going to be easy. Life is not guaranteed to be easy. It's the people who work hard, study hard, and never give up who persevere. You just have to make up your mind as to which kind of person you want to be.
I'm here to help you.
