Greetings Changers Welcome to 5th Grade!

  • I am Ms. Johnson. I would like to introduce myself as your child's online 5th grade teacher from Belleview Elementary School!  I am so excited to work with you and your child!  This year's online students will be expected to have as close to a normal school day as possible, but from the safety of your own home.  This means that we will meet online through video conference calls every morning, we will have math, language arts, science, and social studies every day. Your students will get the daily instruction that I would normally give in person, using video conference calls.  The students will even get to socialize with their peers and have special classes (P.E., art, and music) throughout this online experience.

We will be learning a lot about the use of technology. Don't stress! We will all learn the programs and technology together. The main online learning program that we will be using is Microsoft Teams. Students will have access to Teams through their student desktop portal. Microsoft Teams also has capabilities to partner with many other educational applications that we will learn about and explore as we progress through these first 9-weeks.  I will also be using the ClassDojo as another way of communicating with you and your students.

During orientation you will be provided with materials, student worksheets/workbooks, laptop if you already requested one from the school, and a bit of paperwork.During orientation, I will be able to give you specific guidance on how to access your student’s desktop portal, Microsoft Teams, and the other important programs that we will be using which are all located on your student’s desktop portal.

  • For orientation you have a choice between 2 options: (These options are only given to those families who choose Online learning. We, at the school, respect your decision to not want to come on campus which is why we are giving you 2 options)

    1. We can schedule an in-person meeting here in my classroom: You will be the only family present in my classroom at your scheduled time, masks will be required, temperature check and paperwork will be required when entering the school. This will be on a separate day apart from the rest of the school’s orientation to cut back on the amount of people on campus while you are here.

    1. We can meet via-Zoom Conference call and you can do a drive-up to retrieve any materials/laptop/paperwork needed.  During the Zoom conference call; I can screen share my screen with you to show you an overview on how to access all of the online programs that we will be using throughout your child's online education.

I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you very soon

Sincerly,

Ms. Johnson
