Welcome to Mr. Brooks' Class

  • Parents and Students,

It is a pleasure to have your kids in my class this year! I am so excited to be in my second year here at Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary. From my experience we have the best students around. Math and science are my bread and butter and I can't wait to teach anbd learn from each and every one of your kids. I have been teaching fourth grade for years and I know the math and science curriculum very well and look forward to a successful year.

We will work hard this year to master all of the standards and will track our progress on our mastery wall. The students will be responsible in determining when they have mastered each standard. Once we agree they have mastered the standards they will sign the standard and we will display it on the mastery wall. We will practice and practice makes perfect (thank goodness Panther Home connection is back so we can reinforce what we are learning at school at home).

On a personal note, I am a married father of two, Miller is seven in second grade and Mary Frances is ten in fifth grade here at Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary. I know how awesome the students, faculty, and staff are because I’ve seen it firsthand for the last five years. I love music, kayaking, camping and anything outdoors. I love the Orlando City Lions, the Jacksonville Jaguars, UCF Knights, Florida Gators, and FSU Seminoles (except when they play the Gators).

I will be using ClassDojo as lines of communication and delivering our daily instruction through Google Classroom. The standards focus board will list the day’s topic, standard, learning goal, essential question, and daily agenda. I will post daily assignments, questions and announcements in the student's Google Classroom. The students can access Google Classroom through their MCPS portal (username: First.Last Password: the student's should know it). If you would like to know what we are working on, please have them login and show you. I encourage you to check it throughout the week and use it as a reference and reinforce what was taught in class. This will assure the mastery of the standards we will be working toward.

If you have any questions please direct message me on ClassDojo or by email at Cary.Brooks@marion.k12.fl.us

    Sincerely,

    Cary Brooks
