• Unit 1 – Algebra

When students have completed this lesson they should be able to:

    • Understand the meaning of , sketch the graph of and use relations such as  and  in the course of solving equations and inequalities
    • Know how to draw graphs of functions involving modulus
    • Know how to use modulus algebraically and geometrically
    • Solve simple equations and inequalities involving modulus
    • Divide a polynomial, of degree not exceeding 4, by a linear or quadratic polynomial, and identify the quotient and remainder (which may be zero)
    • Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide polynomials
    • Understand the words "Quotient" and "Remainder" used in dividing polynomials
    • Use the method of equating coefficients
    • Use the remainder theorem and the factor theorem
