Unit 1 – Algebra
When students have completed this lesson they should be able to:
- Understand the meaning of , sketch the graph of and use relations such as and in the course of solving equations and inequalities
- Know how to draw graphs of functions involving modulus
- Know how to use modulus algebraically and geometrically
- Solve simple equations and inequalities involving modulus
- Divide a polynomial, of degree not exceeding 4, by a linear or quadratic polynomial, and identify the quotient and remainder (which may be zero)
- Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide polynomials
- Understand the words "Quotient" and "Remainder" used in dividing polynomials
- Use the method of equating coefficients
- Use the remainder theorem and the factor theorem
