    Emphasis for this course pertains to the study of American history from the Age of Exploration to the post Civil War period of Reconstruction. Students will have numerous opportunities to develop the critical skills of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation in a more rigorous and reflective academic setting while mastering historical, geographic, political, economic, and sociological content from this era of American history. Students are empowered to perform at higher levels as they engage in the following: analyzing historical documents and supplementary readings, participating in Socratic seminars/in depth discussions, document based writing, contrasting opposing viewpoints and solving problems.
