Ms. Brittany Schofield
Brittany Schofield is the Director of Bands at Howard Middle School in Ocala Florida since August 2014.
As a native of Blythewood, South Carolina and graduate of the University of South Carolina (USC), she pursued a Bachelor of Arts & Science in Music Education, specifically studying the areas of music theory, instrumentation and leadership. While at USC, she was the recipient of USC School of Music Scholarship, Jesse B. Floyd Scholarship and the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship. She served as the Student Assistant and Senior Staff for the University of South Carolina Bands. Ms Schofield was a flute student under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Parker-Harley and has been a member of the Carolina Marching Band and Symphonic Wind Ensembles, under the direction of Dr. Rebecca Phillips and Dr. Scott Weiss. She was an active instructor with several band camps, leadership camps, and school music programs. Recently, Ms Schofield was accepted to the Master in Music Education graduate program at Florida State University School of Music Summer Music Program.
Under the direction of Ms Schofield, the Howard Middle School Symphonic Bands have received Superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Music Performance Assessment four years consecutively. In 2017, a Howard Middle School Symphonic Band student was selected as First Chair Trumpet for the Florida All-State Band. Along with her many teaching duties, Ms Schofield organizes the Marion All County Band and is a committee member for the Florida Bandmasters Association District 19 All District Band. She is also active with the Ocala Summer Music Camp for beginning and intermediate band students. Ms Schofield is a Flutist with the Ocala Kingdom of the Sun Community Band and is a member of the National Music Educators Associations, Florida Music Education Association, Florida Bandmasters Associate, the South Carolina Flute Society and the Sigma Alpha Iota Fraternity. Ms Schofield was voted “Rookie Teacher of the Year 2015” by her peers at Howard Middle School.
Ms Schofield currently lives in Ocala, Florida with her Brittany Spaniel, Breyer and is an avid equestrian in the hunter/jumper discipline, actively training “Off the Track” thoroughbreds in the Ocala area.
