Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Tanya Shively
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. I come to Osceola Middle School as the 2nd Intellectual Disability (InD) teacher after spending the last 10 years at Liberty Middle School in the same position. Osceola gained a second unit InD unit and Liberty lost the one at that school. I look forward to teaching each of your children this year.
I started my education career late in life. I graduated from, what was known at that time, Central Florida Community College (CFCC), now known as College of Central Florida, with my Associates in Art (AA) in 2007. From there I attended Barry University in Miami through a satellite school site at CFCC where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education in 2009. After taking a year off from school I decided to get my Master’s Degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University through their online program. Graduating with a 4.0 GPA in 2011.
I have been involved in many different personal development programs both during the school year and the summer in order to improve on my teaching skills and keep up to date with the latest discoveries. These personal development classes teach me how to help your student the best way possible. Once again, I have a high expectation that each of my students will make, at the very least, one year's growth. These classes help me in achieving this goal. I have had great success with making this happen in the past and see no reason not to continue.
I have been married for 30 years and have two daughters, a step-son, 5 grandchildren, 4 cats, chickens and a donkey. I enjoy spending my spare time with my family.
I am a big Disney fan, enjoying an annual pass to Disney I go as often as time permits.
