    Dear Parents & Guardians,

     

    Welcome to a new school year!  I am looking forward to working with your child. As their math teacher, I am excited to start a fresh new year where they will experience hands-on learning with higher order application. Your role in their learning experience is crucial.  I will count on your support in order to help your child blossom. This letter is to inform you of what your child needs for their math class along with my expectations for a successful year.  If there is a hardship please do not hesitate to let me know and we will discretely make provision for your child.

     

    Class Supplies:  Each student in my class this year will need (1) Pocket dividers for a 3-ring binder (2) SUPPLY of loose-leaf paper (wide ruled) (3) SUPPLY of pencils (4) SUPPLY of BLUE pens

    (5) 4- Composition or Spiral Notebooks (one for each 9 weeks).

     

    Grades:   Student grades will be determined by the following three categories and percentage weights:

    Tests/Learning Checks…………………... 50%

    Class Work/Quizzes…………………........40%

    Homework/Notebook………………….....10%

     

    Grading Scale:           A= 100-90       B=89-80          C=79-70          D=69-60          F=59-0

     

    Planners:  Students must have their planners with them everyday.  Students are expected to record homework, test, and quiz dates along with any other important information in their planner at the beginning of each class period. Planners will be provided free of no charge by Liberty Middle School.  Assignment dates and deadlines will be posted on my website as well for your access and monitoring.

     

    Class Rules: 

    The following rules must be adhered to at all times:   Students must be kind and respectful to the teacher and to their classmates.  Students need to comply with the first request given.  Students must be on time, prepared, and ready for class to start as soon as the bell rings. Students will be expected to raise their hands when they want to speak or get up out of their seats. Students will be expected to keep their hands and feet to themselves. Students must comply with the Marion County Code of Conduct.  The Code of Student Conduct booklet is being sent home on the first day of school with each student.

     

    Consequences to Behavioral Infractions:

    1st:  A Verbal Warning (Yellow)

    2nd: Classroom Intervention/Lunch Detention  (Orange)

    3rd: Time-Out/ Parent Contact (Red)

    4th: A Formal Discipline Referral will be submitted to the Student Management Office.

                                                           OR -

    Gross insubordination or major incident will result in a referral to the Student Management Office.

     

    Absences:  Students will be given an opportunity to turn in all work missed resulting from an absence. They are given as many days to make it up as they were absent.  It is the student’s responsibility to record and to complete the missing work assignments.  The wall calendar has all assignments posted as well as my website.
