Mrs. S. James – 7th Grade ADV/REG-Math
Lake Weir Middle School
2017-2018 Welcome Letter!
I am honored to have your child in my class! I am also excited to start this incredible year where your child/children will learn so much, be challenged, have fun, and work together. I would also like to welcome you as parents, grandparents, guardians, or other loved ones to our math class.
Class Supplies: Your child will need the following supplies: (1) Composition notebook (NO Spiral), a SUPPLY of loose-leaf paper, and a SUPPLY of pencils. These supplies will need to be replenished throughout the year as needed.
Grades: Student grades will be determined by the following three areas: Classwork/Quizzes: 45%, Tests/Projects and Presentations: 45%, and Bell work 10%.
Planners: Students must have their planners with them everyday. Students are expected to record homework, test dates, and other important information in their planner at the beginning of each class period.
Class Rules: The following rules must be adhered to at all times:
- Students must be kind and respectful to the teacher and to their classmates at all times, and they must use appropriate manners.
- Students must be on time, prepared, and ready for class to start as soon as the bell rings.
- Students will be expected to raise their hands when they want to speak or get up out of their seats.
- Students must keep hands and feet to themselves.
Consequences: Students will always be given a first chance to correct improper behavior. If the behavior does not improve after a positive intervention, the following consequences will be implemented:
- Written Assignment/Time-Out
- Parent Contact
- Referral to Student Services
Absences: It is the student’s responsibility to find out what assignments were missed while they were out. There will be a calendar hanging in the classroom with all assignments listed. They will need to check the calendar the day they get back to school. They will be given one day per day absent to make up assignments. No late HOMEWORK will be accepted, other than for absences.
Contact Information: Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child. The phone number here is (352)671-6120, and my e-mail address is email@example.com. This will probably be the fastest way for you to contact me, and I will make every effort to get back to you the same day. Please also visit my school webpage, http://sjames216.weebly.com . I created this site to relay information to students and for the students to make comments, discuss topics and ask questions on what we do/did in class! I hope they enjoy the experience!
