Mr. Jeremy Shepard

A little about me, I am entering my sixth year as the Guitar Instructor at West Port High School. I graduated from the University of North Florida in 2009 with a B.A. in Music with a minor in History, prior to that I received my A.A. - Liberal Arts from the College of Central Florida in 2007. I am an Ocala native and graduated from Lake Weir High School in 2004.

Over the years I have picked up several different instruments but Guitar and Bass Guitar became my favorites with the latter being my principle instrument during my time in college. I started on clarinet in 6th grade at Lake Weir Middle School, around my sophomore year in high school I picked up Guitar and Bass Guitar, my junior year I started playing sousaphone/tuba. After high school I spent a little bit of time with a band touring playing drum set but decided I wanted to go to college and settle in on bass guitar. While in college I also learned bass clarinet, trombone, and the double bass (upright bass).

When not practicing or performing my hobbies included aquariums as I have a fresh water tank and two reef tanks at home, as well as two aquaponic systems. I am also an Eagle Scout (2003) and Scouting has led me to a life enjoying rock climbing, challenge course events, and scuba diving. I am also interested in taking up breeding ornamental marine fish to help the hobby pull less from the ocean and more from aquaculture facilities to help be more sustainable.
