Mr. Spencer Reeder
I have been teaching over 35 years, and believe that one of my most important responsibilities is to help each student see the relativity of the subject matter to his or her own life. In order to create such an environment in my classroom, I still subscribe to the educational idea "that most students don't really care how much you know until they know how much you care."
My undergraduate degree in education is from Troy University and my Master's Degree in Education Leadership is from St. Leo University.
I have taught all grade levels 1-12th as well as numerous courses including philosophy, contemporary history, New Testament History, and different sciences. This is my eleventh year at West Port High School, but I have previously taught at both Belleview and Dunnellon High Schools. Presently, I'm teaching public speaking and Teacher Assisting I, II, III and IV and I am the sponsor for the school's Debate club, FFEA club and girl's golf coach.
I'm married to fellow educator, Laurie Reeder, and I'm the father of three daughters. My oldest daughter completed graduate work at LSU, my second is in graduate school at UCF and third is in graduate school at USF. All are graduates of Marion County schools.
