Degrees and Certifications:
Dr. Lela Kerley
It is an honor to serve as your child's guide to the past. I have over four years of experience teaching in the Marion County Public School system. In addition to this, I have over seven years of experience teaching European history at three different public universities in the state of Florida.
I am very excited about this upcoming school year. I am passionate about exposing a younger generation to the lessons that history has to teach us. Furthermore, I believe deeply that every child should have an opportunity to succeed. To that end, I will be encouraging and fair, providing additional opportunities for your child to master the material outside of regular classroom time during PowerHour, before as well as after school.
The success of your child depends upon the commitment of three parties: the instructor, the student, and the parent/guardian. I will be as transparent as possible, communicating the rules and procedures of the classroom, the subject matter of weekly discussions, assignments and their deadlines, as well as grading rubrics in person and through my course webpage. As I tell my students, training for a marathon does not happen overnight. Building mental muscle takes time, dedication, and a lot of heavy lifting on everyone's part. It is my goal that we will all run the race and finish together!
I invite you to contact me by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Thank you for your support.
