My name is Ricardo Garcia-Suarez, but everyone here knows me as Mr. Garcia. Born in New Jersey and "forced" by my parents to exile to Puerto Rico, I received all my education there. I completed a B.A. in English Language and Literature, with a concentration in British Literature, at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (El Colegio) in 1997. That same year I started teaching and haven't stopped since. This marks my 22nd year teaching! In 2000 I completed a Master's in English Curriculum and Education from the University of Phoenix, and that same year, I married Ginnette Rivera, the current twelfth-grade guidance counselor. In 2006 I was "forced" into exile again, this time from Puerto Rico to Florida, and August of that year saw the beginning of my career at West Port High. For my whole time at West Port, I have taught English I (Honors and Regular), and for the past six years, I have been teaching Early College courses. My wife and I have two beautiful and smart boys, RJ (16), a junior at West Port this year, and Gabo (4), who starts VPK at Saddlewood this year.
