My name is Ricardo Garcia-Suarez, but everyone here knows me as Mr. Garcia. Born in New Jersey and "forced" by my parents into exile to Puerto Rico, I received all my education there. I completed a BA in English Language and Literature, with a concentration in British Literature, at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus (Antes, Ahora, y Siempre! El Colegio!) in 1997. That same year I started teaching and haven't stopped since. This marks my 24th year teaching! In 2000 I completed a Master's in English Curriculum and Education from the University of Phoenix, and that same year, I married Ginnette Rivera, the current tenth-grade guidance counselor. In 2006 I was "forced" into exile again, this time from Puerto Rico to Florida, and August of that year saw the beginning of my career at West Port High. For my first 10 years at West Port, I taught English I (Honors and Regular), and for seven years, I taught Early College courses. Since the 2018-2019 school year, I've been teaching English 2 Honors. My wife and I have two beautiful and smart boys, RJ (18), a West Port 2020 Class alumnus, and currently a UCF Knight, and Gabo (6), who starts first grade at Saddlewood this year.
