The Nymphs Reply to the Shepherd

If all the world and love were young,
And truth in every Shepherd’s tongue,
These pretty pleasures might me move,
To live with thee, and be thy love.
Time drives the flocks from field to fold,
When Rivers rage and Rocks grow cold,
    And Philomel becometh dumb,
The rest complains of cares to come.
The flowers do fade, and wanton fields,
    To wayward winter reckoning yields,
A honey tongue, a heart of gall,
Is fancy’s spring, but sorrow’s fall.
Thy gowns, thy shoes, thy beds of Roses,
Thy cap, thy kirtle, and thy posies
Soon break, soon wither, soon forgotten:
In folly ripe, in reason rotten.
Thy belt of straw and Ivy buds,
The Coral clasps and amber studs,
All these in me no means can move
To come to thee and be thy love.
But could youth last, and love still breed,
Had joys no date, nor age no need,
Then these delights my mind might move
To live with thee, and be thy love.
  • I am Mr. Garcia and I am thrilled to begin my fourteenth year teaching at West Port High!

In this website, you will be able to find everything and anything needed to be successful in English 2 Honors.  In the Course Information link to the right, you will be able to find the information pertaining to the course I teach (syllabus).  In the Assignments section, you will find PDFs and PowerPoint Presentations of the work done in class or work you are expected to finish at home.  In the calendar, you will find the daily agenda of what is done in class and links to the same documents in the Assignments section.

I will also be using a secure texting system called Remind.  Although this system will allow me to communicate with parents and students, no personal phone numbers will have to be exchanged.  All you or your parents have to do to join is follow the simple instructions below:

    • If you are a student in any of my morning (before ALPHA Time) English 2 Honors classes, you will text the message @48k6hhf to the number 81010.  You can also send an email to @mail.remind.com.
    • If you are a student in any of my afternoon (after ALPHA Time) English 2 Honors classes, you will text the message @mrgarciasu to the number 81010.  You can also send an email to @mail.remind.com.

  • Gradebook Discrepancy

Dear parents and students, whenever you go on the portal to check grades and find that the gradebook indicates a missing assignment, don't be concerned.  When an assignment is created but a grade not put immediately, the gradebook marks it as missing.  You should only be concerned if the missing assignment is accompanied by a score of 0.  If there's a 0, you should come see me immediately during PH.
