Welcome, my name is Hollie Cunningham. I graduated from Florida State University (FSU) in the spring of 2002 with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing (B.S.N.). Initially, when I started college, I was an education major. After contemplating either teaching or nursing my professor shared an impactful pearl of wisdom, he said to be a nurse, get my bachelors degree, and then I would always have the chance to teach. Dr. Osteen was correct, I can now say that I am living my dream, and have been afforded the opportunity to instruct here at West Port High School.
I have been a Cardiac Catheterization Nurse at MRMC for over 15 years. I also retain the privilege of working on call in the Cath Lab once a month and when needed (PRN). I think retaining my skill set helps to encourage and empower our students, students feel more connected when they hear actual accounts of medical procedures and situations.
I am the Lead Teacher (Department Chair) for the Vocational Department here at WPHS, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns, 291-4000. Hollie.Cunningham@marion.k12.fl.us
