Ms. Norma Barnes

Hello students and parents! My name is Norma Barnes and welcome to my class page! A little about me:

I am going into my eighth year of teaching.  My first year of teaching I was at a local private school, and the past 6 years have been right here with Marion County Public Schools. For 5 of those years I was at West Port High School where I taught Intensive Reading for grades 9-12 in the direct instruction Autism and ESE unit (4 years) and I also taught 9th grade Intensive Reading and English I (1 year). This is my second year back in Elementary and I am currently teaching 5th grade English Language Arts.

I earned my AA degree from Santa Fe College and my Bachelor's in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida.

During the 2017-2018 school year, I was the school based teacher of the year for West Port High School and then was selected as one of the five 2018 Marion County Teacher of the Year Golden Apple recipients!

I absolutely love my job and feel very blessed to be working with such wonderful staff, students and parents.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my class website and please don't ever hesitate to contact me at: I look forward to working with you and your student in what I am sure will be an exciting year!
