Parents and students, thank you for visiting my class website.
Please use the toolbar to the left to access any information you may need for your student's class. Your student has made so much progress this year, and I know they will continue to do so as we transition to this new hybrid classroom format. Please think of our new hybrid classroom format as an opportunity to prepare you for the middle school/high school grade levels: I just spent the past 5 years teaching at the high school level and I can promise you that a lot of the curriculum was a hybrid format also! You are going to be so well prepared for middle school after this!
This is a learning curve for all of us, but I know together, we will make it work!

#2 Sign up for Google Classroom
Weekly Writing Assignments will be completed through Google Classroom. What I love about Google classroom is that I can post an assignment and provide your student with immediate feedback on their essay. I will also post instructional material to Google classroom to assist with the essays.
ALL students need to sign up for my Google classroom to complete writing assigments.
To access Google Classroom:
1. Have your student login to their student portal
2. Click on tab at the bottom that says "Google Apps"
3. Click Google Classroom tab.
4. Theres a "+" sign on the top right "will say "create or join class"
5. Click "+" sign and enter your student's homeroom teachers code.

During this time I will be working from home and from school. My "office hours" are listed below. If you need me to call you, please message me with a phone number and a time that works for you. Please allow 24 hours for me to return your call. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.
Office Hours: 9:00-10:00am and 12:30-1:30pm.
I will start making contact with you all starting on Wednesday April 1, 2020 to give you an overview of our new learning format. After that, myself and support staff will be checking in weekly to answer any questions you may have.
I will call you and your student on Mondays and support staff will call you mid-week to check in.
If you need to get in contact with me before then, please message me on Remind and I will follow up with you via a Google Voice phone number.
This is just a reminder of our specials schedule. On the day specials falls, please be sure to check that teacher's website for your lesson for that day.
Monday: Art- Ms. Chong
Tuesday, Thursday, Friday:PE- Coach Carter or Coach Engendal
Wednesday: Music- Mr. Sieber
Please be sure to have your students using Reading Plus everyday. They need to utilize the program for a minimum of 30 minutes each day and complete at least 1 Reader and 1 Vocab lesson. This is to maintain the progress your child has made already this school year and to further prepare them for middle school. 5 Readers and 5 Vocab lessons are due at the end of each week. Please follow the Reading Plus log in instructions on the 5th Grade English Language Arts page.
Marion County Public Schools may record online classroom sessions utlizing third-party platforms (Google Classroom, Mircrosoft Teams, Zoom, etc.) These recordings will only be used for educational purposes and may be shared on other learning platforms. If you do not want your child's image or identifying information recorded, utilize your device/platform controls to stop the camera feed from your device.
