Mrs. Deborah E. Taylor

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Deborah E. Taylor

I am looking forward to beginning this, my 11th year of teaching at Maplewood Elementary.  This year I will have the privilege of team teaching with Mrs. Lindsey Copeland.  I will be teaching math and science, while Mrs. Copeland will be teaching language arts and social studies.  Together, we will make every effort to help your child have a positive fifth grade experience in order that they will transition successfully to middle school.

I am originally from New England.  Teaching is my second career following twenty years in the field of accounting.  In my twenty years of teaching, I have taught in public and parochial schools in every grade from kindergarten through eighth.  In addition to my teaching experience, I have worked with children as a mom, stepmom, foster mom, foreign exchange student mom, grandmother, youth group leader, Sunday School teacher, and Boy and Girl Scout volunteer.  I enjoy several hobbies, with reading topping the list.  When not reading, I can be found cooking, sewing, camping, square dancing, or puttering around my home.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.  The best way to contact me is via my school e-mail: or through messaging on class DoJo.
