Mrs. Wetz

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Wetz

Hi everyone!  I'm Mrs. Wetz, the Art teacher at MSA!  I wanted to share a little bit about me.  I have been teaching for 21 years in Marion County.  The various positions I've taught have ranged from ESOL teacher to Kindergarten teacher to Writing teacher to Primary Math teacher to Art teacher.  Previous to arriving at MSA, I taught Art at Shady Hill Elem.

I have two children that have kept me busy over the years and although my son has graduated in June 2017, I have a daughter in high school who keeps me equally on my toes! Although I don't have much free time, when I do find a day or weekend open, I like to visit art galleries and museums (no surprise there!), and I like trying new art techniques such as my current favorite, glass fusion. I particularly like the glassblowing work of Dale Chihuly.   I also like naps! I've avidly pursued naps since my children were babies and plan to continue doing so for many years!

I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1991 and earned my master's degree from St. Leo University.  I didn't become an Art teacher until later in my teaching career and although I have enjoyed teaching different grade levels and subjects over the years, I LOVE TEACHING ART!  Nothing is as exciting as creating something new with paint or clay and I am thrilled to see the the delight children have when they've made something as unique as themselves.  Children are natural artists and my goal as their art teacher is for them to explore different art techniques and mediums and develop a lifelong desire to CREATE!
