  • Hello Families,

     

         We made it through our first 3 days of distance learning.  Continue to be patient with yourself and your child as we continue this new way of learning.  As of now, school is closed through May 1st.  Please continue to make every effort to have your child complete his assignments each day.  If they are having trouble, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.  I am willing to help in any way that I can. If you need assistance with your technology device call 352-867-2100.  This number is for device-related issues only.

         I believe that I have streamlined this site and made it easier to navigate to the assignments your child needs to complete.  They should be logging in each day to the sites listed under assignments.  Please encourage them to make an honest effort to complete their assignments.  These assignments can be found by scrolling midway down.

         It was wonderful to see most of you boys during our first Zoom meeting.  I am sorry that the other 2 were unable to make it.  Starting this week, we will have a recurring weekly meeting on Wednesdays at 10 and 1.  You only have to attend one, but you can attend both.  This will hopefully make it easier to connect and answer any questions they may have.  

        Please continue to reach out to me via Classtag, phone, email and text.  I am here for you and your child and want to make this time as stress less as possible.  During this time and as a motivator, I will be using ClassDojo to pay your child points they earn each day by completing their assignments each day.

Successful Tips for Distance Learning

  • 1. Set up a space where your child is comfortable to work in where distractions are to a minimum.

     

    2. Set aside time for him to complete his work.

     

    3. Have your child do 20-30 minutes of work and then take a short 5-10 minute break before returning to work.

     

    4. Encourage a growth mindset. If your child becomes frustrated ask them, "tell me what you've tried so far", "what else can you try?", "what have you learned so far?".

     

    5. Stay calm and have fun.

  • Usernames & Passwords for Websites

    I believe that I emailed all of the login information for the websites, but if I didn't, please email me for them so your child can access the sites.

    We will have a recurring Zoom Meeting on Wednesday @ 10:00 and @ 1:00.  You can join during both or just one.  The choice is yours.  

     Please look for an email or invitation from me with the meeting date, time and meeting ID and password.

  • How to get students to their assignments on ReadWorks 

    1. Have students go to ReadWorks.

    2. Students enter class code for your current grade level.

    Note: Students can change their passwords when they log in, and I can change student passwords on my end.

  • How does my child login to the other websites?

    You should have received an email with all of your child's website logins.  If you cannot find it, please email or text Ms. Ruggeri for the list again.

  • How does my child login to their portal?

    Your child can access their portal here where they type in their username and password. Their username is their firstname.lastname and their password is a 6 letter word followed by a 2 digit number. All students know their login information because they used it daily at school.

    • How does my child login to AR?

      They can login to AR here. Their username is their student number that they type in to get their lunch everyday. Their password is the two digits of their birth month followed by the four digits of their birth year. For example, if your child was born in August of 2010, their password would be 082010
