    Marion County Public Schools may record online classroom sessions utilizing third-party platforms (Zoom, Google Classroom, etc.).  These recordings will only be used for educational purposes and may be shared on other learning platforms.  If you do not want your child’s image or identifying information recorded, utilize your device/platform controls to stop the camera feed from your device.

    Marion County Public Schools Distance Learning Handbook

     Marion County Public Schools handbook states the tasks for the week will be publicized consistently on the first day of the student instructional week. During distance learning, the student instructional week is defined as Monday-Friday. Each week your child is required to do a minimum of:

    • 45 minutes of i-Ready Reading AND Math online instruction
    • 20 minutes of reading each day, either independently or with a family member
    • 3 ELA tasks
    • 3 Math tasks
    • 1 Science task
    • 1 Social Studies task

    Our first instructional week will  be Wednesday April 1 through Friday April 3. During this first week, your students task expectations are as follows:

    • 45 minutes of iReady Reading AND Math online instruction
    • 20 minutes of reading done each day, either independently or with a family member
    • 1 ELA task
    • 1 Math task
    • 1 Science task OR 1 Social Studies Task

    Although we are not physically in school right now, the handbook states that, "Taking attendance is still a legal obligation, even in an online setting, and is a record that is frequently monitored for compliance. It is important that records are maintained and accurate. Teachers will continue to take attendance in Skyward. Students can demonstarte attendance in a number of ways, including but not limited to the examples listed below."

    • Logging into an online platform
    • Sending a message via Class Dojo
    • Engaging in a phone call
    • Participating in an online forum or web thred conversation
