Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Katrina Smith

My name is Katrina Smith.  Music has been a nurturing part of my family since childhood.  My father was a pastor and school teacher who taught history, English, and music.  He played the piano and trombone.  My maternal grandmother was a church musician.  I have played the piano since the age of four, studying voice and piano throughout my elementary and college years.

I attended school at Carver, Seminary Attendance Center, and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. My music experiences include ministering music in churches in Georgia, Mississippi, California, New York, and Florida, performance with the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra, resulting from being finalist in a collegiate artist competition, piano and vocal finalists in Mississippi state competitions, performance at the 1983 World's Fair, piano accompanist for summer dinner theater at William Carey College, Hattiesburg, MS, music instructor at Fountain Valley Conservatory in California, and music instructor in Marion County Public Schools, Ocala, FL. My degrees include a Bachelor's and Master's degree in music. I also have certification in Orff Schulwerk, Level I.

I  enjoy playing the piano, singing, composing and arranging music, reading, cooking, and eating.  I enjoy people, and encouraging them to find their best.
