Mr. George Baker

My name is George Baker.  I am blessed to have both a loving and supportive wife who is also a kindergarten teacher here in Marion County.  I also have a daughter that is going to Howard Middle School and a son who attends Maplewood Elementary.   My path to teaching has been a roller coaster ride which thank the Lorid I enjoy rollercoaster.  My passion for teaching begin in 2001 where I graduated from Pensacola Christian College. From there I found a teaching position which relocated me from Pensacola, Florida to Ocala.  Having taught 2 years in a private setting, I needed more credits in order to maintain my teacher qualifications.  In 2007, I went back to school to obtain those credentials because I really enjoyed teaching.  The students are the highlight.  In 2011,  I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Saint Leo University with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 2011.  In 2013, I received my ESE certification from the state of Florida. This is my third year teaching ESE self-contained students at Greenway Elementary.  Fast Forword is a reading program in which builds foundational skills of which I have the privilege of managing for the last three years here at Greenway Elementary as well.  Children are purpose and focus of what I do as a teacher.  I believe in building a relationship with students in order for them to gain success both inside and outside the classroom.  I do believe the Lord has given me purpose as a teacher and I take this to heart when I instruct.  Thank you parents for allowing me to be a part of your child's life as a teacher.
