• Students will compare text with understanding of the author's purpose, theme, problem/solution, cause/effect and main idea within the story or passage. Students must use context clues to figure out word meanings and figurative language used in the passage. 

    Students will also write essays to explain or compare non-fiction passages and also have to state their opinion using text evidence to support their writing. 

    Students learn all about Florida History and economics in Fourth Grade.

    Fourth Graders need to be reading independently to expand their vocabulary for comprehension of the text and to become a fluent reader.
