Degrees and Certifications:
BA in English Language and Literature. MA in Secondary Education ESOL endorsement.
Welcome to, or welcome back to my class. This year I am teaching freshmen and juniors, so I may know some of you juniors already. I began teaching English at Camden Academy Charter High School in Camden, New Jersey in 2003. I moved to Pasco County Florida in 2005, where I taught at J. W. Mitchell High School until 2009. I have been predominately an English I and III teacher here at VHS since 2009, with a few splashes of English IV. I love my job, and though I stick to state and district requirements for our curriculum, I try to choose literature that I feel interests students more. Even still, if the reading piece has a boring reputation, we'll find a way to have fun. Our motto is to "Learn how to learn." This means students must find the tools and means to succeed in life, so they do not feel defeated or hopeless as they reach higher level tasks. Students will hear me repeatedly say, "You are my future, you better know what you are doing." This is the fact that drives me to give my students 150% of my effort. Are you ready?
